Key laws and policies
At present Kenya does not have laws or policies regarding the subject matter discussed on this BioWiki.
Two recent bills have been introduced into parliament:
1. The Reproductive Health Care Bill, 2014 was introduced into the Senate by Judith Sijeny, Senator and had its first reading on 12th June 2014.(See http://kenyalaw.org/kl/fileadmin/pdfdownloads/bills/2014/ReproductiveHealthCareBill2014__1_.pdf)
2. The In-Vitro Fertilization Bill, 2014 was introduced by Millie Odhiambo Mabona, Member of Parliament and had its first reading on 14 October 2014. (See http://kenyalaw.org/kl/fileadmin/pdfdownloads/bills/2014/In-VitroFertilizationBill2014.pdf)
(NB. Bills need to go through 3 readings, neither has yet progressed to second readings.

Assisted reproduction and surrogacy are practiced.
Clinics advertise the following services:
- Blastocyst Embryo Transfer
- Donor Insemination (DI)
- Egg Donation
- Embyro Donation
- Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET)
- Gamete Intra-Fallopian Transfer (GIFT)
- In-vitro fertilisation (IVF)
- In-vitro fertilisation (IVF) with egg donation
- Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
- Intrauterine insemination (IUI) stimulated
- Intrauterine insemination (IUI) unstimulated
- Surgical sperm retrieval (PESA; TESA; MESA)
- Surrogacy
- Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer (ZIFT)
Newspaper reports note significant secrecy surrounding surrogacy - for example surrogate mothers are reported to 'hide away' for the duration of their pregnancy, or move to neighboring towns.
